Largely undiscovered, the elusive CHINESE STEPPE CAT (Felis bieti) inhabits high-elevation steppe grasslands around 3,200 meters (10,560 feet) in the central Tibetan Plateau in China. Living in a harsh climate, this 4 – 8 kg (9 – 17.6 lb) predator hunts pikas, rodents and birds during the early morning and evening hours.
